ABOUT
Laura Griffith is an award winning landscape and portrait artist living in Cowaramup, Western Australia.
Born in Perth in 1981, she studied at Curtin University graduating in 2002 with a BA in Fine Art. Laura moved to the Margaret River Region in 2009 where she married and had her first child, settling in the town of Cowaramup where she now works from her home studio.

Laura has traveled Australia extensively, and her love for the land is encapsulated in her work. She explores themes of connection to place and the healing aspects of spending time immersed in the natural world. Atmospheric use of colour and light feature in her work, invoking a feeling of harmony and peace. Lauras brushwork is delicate and brings a softness and beauty to her work.  Locations selected to paint are chosen intuitivly upon returning home with a camera full of ideas and reference imagery, prioritising those that have evoked within her a lasting and emotionally connected response to the land.

"Reconnecting with the memory and feeling of a place through the process of painting is an addictive and meditative process that I feel I will never get tired of. "

Portraits are another passion that Laura continues to practice alongside her landscapes, taking private commission requests. She also meets up regulary with a local group of southwest artists called the "North-South-East-West Artists" for informal studio catchup sessions to work spontaniously on both individual and shared projects.
